Job Summary:

Must understand the game of golf and become familiar with all products, services, programs, and rates at Carruther’s Creek G & C.C. Must possess excellent telephone manners and sales skills. Attendant must accurately perform cash or credit transactions, reporting procedures, appropriate pro shop administration and paperwork.

This position has the opportunity to remain over the winter season and become a year round position. This position will give the candidate experience in a sports related environment which can be beneficial experience for any applicant in starting their sports management career.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • As scheduled, open pro shop for business.
  • Courteously and knowledgeably attend to all customers needs. Involve manager when his/her expert advice is needed.
  • Operate POS for all transactions; assure that POS is working properly; must perform routine troubleshooting of POS problems. Collect fees for greens fees, cart rentals, range balls, club rentals, and merchandise, tournament and league fees.
  • Front line customer service agents.
  • Tee sheet maintenance and bookings. Answer telephones accurately, record requests for tee times
  • Sales of merchandise in Golf Shop
  • Executing departmental requirements for tournaments.
  • Performing regular cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Direct golfers to first tee and power and pull carts.
  • Courteously enforce regulations regarding dress code, prohibited carry-on alcoholic beverages, walk along guests, cart drivers must have valid driver’s license, to avoid conflicts for marshals and starters.
  • Handle cash accurately and according to established security procedures. Monitor cash supply in case change is needed from safe and advise manager/supervisor when needed.
  • Assure that sufficient quantities of all stationary, forms, office supplies, tees, pencils, scorecards, etc., are in stock and ready for use. Avoid last minute emergencies by bringing re-ordering needs to the attention of manager.
  • While on duty, assure that pro shop and surrounding area is neat and clean, that merchandise is well arranged and dust free.
  • At the end of day perform all closing procedures.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the health and safety act and its regulations.
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn.
  • Report to your supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which you are aware and which may be a danger to yourself or others.
  • Report to your employer or supervisor any contravention of the health and safety act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard which you know of.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.


  • Experience in a retail environment preferably in the golf business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty.
  • Excellent organizational abilities – able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced sometimes-unpredictable environment.
  • Knowledge of POS Systems is an asset.
  • Computer skills (PC Applications; Outlook/E-mail, Excel, Word)
  • Must be able to work days, evenings, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
  • Smart Serve certification required.
  • Excellent organizational abilities – able to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure while providing exceptional customer service with a smile. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced sometimes-unpredictable environment.
  • Ability to work independently.

This position is requires that you are able to stand for long periods of time, be able to bend, lift up to 30 lbs, and do repetitive tasks. The hours per week vary from summer to winter seasons depending on the needs of the facility. The hours of work may vary as it is a weather dependent business.

1 year required in each of: Sports Management, Golf, Retail as well as Event Planning and Sales.
