On behalf of our client, we are searching for a Project Controller to join their team, located in the Lower Mainland / Vancouver region of BC. We are seeking an independent and self-motivated Project Controller that is well-organized, detailed, flexible and strategic. You will be skilled in inventory system analysis and reorganization, detailed data entry, cost accounting, acquisition, project management and new initiative analysis and reporting. Must have the ability to present accurate and detailed financial reporting to the leadership team; enabling them to make profitable and positive business decisions.

Reporting to leadership, the Project Controller is a responsible for ensuring the timely and relevant monitoring and reporting of the overall financial performance for the organization.   • Monitor and analyze monthly operation results against forecast and budget
  • Research, analyze and advise on revenue, expenses and balance sheet items
  • Prepare cost modeling and analyze production costs to determine profit and loss
  • Manage the current ERP system, including data entry and reporting, manage inventory reconciliation, valuation and reconcile projects initiated by the leadership team
  • Manage risk; analyze and document processes and accounting policies to strengthen or maintain internal controls
  • Prepare and maintain financial metrics for reporting; and present all internal and external reporting
  • Act as a liaison with the 3rd party accountants, prepare the working papers and assist with year-end annual reporting, year-end and taxation
  • Review and approve vendor invoices and financial transactions
  • Analyze, prepare and review financial statements for new and existing initiatives and/or projects as assigned
  • Support and/or lead special projects as requested; working collaboratively with leadership, company Controller, accounting team, department managers and staff

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education, a CPA designation and a minimum of five years’ experience in financial analytics
  • Proven skills in financial management, accounting principles and internal controls specific to a small private company
  • Proven skills with the ability to communicate financial information and business risks that influence positive change and increase revenue
  • Experience working within the food processing, manufacturing, packaging and distribution industry is an asset
  • Ability to recognize and communicate efficiency opportunities, implement new processes, proactively communicate and present solutions associated with immediate or future risk to the business and profitability
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing, receiving, inventory flow and process improvement
  • Experience working with an ERP system, including data entry and reporting
  • Experience performing cost accounting, inventory analysis and improvement
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong internal/external relationships based on honesty, integrity and trust
  • Advanced analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced experience using the Microsoft suite of programs; specifically, Excel
  • Ability to work efficiently and self-manage in a fast pace environment; often with little direction
  • Ability to travel;
  • Strict attention to detail, including the proven ability to double check data and information before presenting is a must
