The Project Steering Committee (PSC) seeks an individual that possess’ high energy, a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and confidentiality, self-motivated, organized, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work well under pressure to fill the position of Training to Employment Project Coordinator. The incumbent will encourage, facilitate and provide support to adults who wish to pursue employment, with a long-term goal to help participants obtain ongoing, permanent and diversified employment opportunities by partnering with government, organizations and businesses to educate, advocate and support participants through work program activities.

This role will work with a variety of individuals, businesses, organizations to;

  • Identify employment opportunities and barriers to employment; and develop an education/support plan.
  • Communicate with businesses and organizations to identify training, employment and retention barriers.
  • Work with agencies in the delivery of skill development programs.
  • Assist participants to prepare for employment by developing individualized schedules for work/training/skills development for each participant.
  • Make referrals to community programs that provide additional employment related resources.
  • Work as a liaison between the participant and workplace to address issues as they arise and provide participant centered solutions.
  • Coordinate and administer all PSC meetings.
  • Preparing reports, grants and compiling statistical information.
  • Other duties as identified.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have relevant post-secondary education or experience
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in dealing with participants and the public while being open, friendly, approachable, accepting and understanding.
  • Current knowledge of assessment techniques
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Must provide a recent Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Valid Class 5 Manitoba drivers license,

This position is a non-unionized, full-time 1-year term position with a possibility to extend to 2 years.  The wage scale is $26-$34.50 per hour dependent on skills and qualifications.  Daily schedule may vary according to the program needs and some travel may be required.
