What will you do in this role?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative engineer to join the R&D Applications and Automation team, developing automated solutions for our next generation optical communication products.

You will contribute to our success by:

  • Designing and implementing software tools and applications for Windows;
  • Implementing complex calibration processes and test solutions in software, to bring leading-edge optical telecommunication products from initial design stage to volume manufacturing;
  • Analysing data to improve product performance and quality;
  • Solving complex technical problems;
  • Working in close collaboration with the Optical, Hardware, Software and Firmware R&D teams;
  • Improving quality and robustness of production tests; and
  • Delivering robust, scalable software. 

What experience will allow you the greatest success in this role?

  • An undergraduate degree, Masters or PhD in the following disciplines: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Proven object-oriented programming experience, preferably in VB.NET or C#;
  • Experience with SQL, relational databases, and analysis of large data sets (JMP, Tableau);
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and debugging skills;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to function successfully in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Desire to succeed and to do things right the first time;
  • Experience in any of the following is an asset:
    • Knowledge of optical components and systems;
    • Hands-on experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment;
    • Device test automation, data gathering and analysis;
    • Six-Sigma or statistical analysis;
    • Interaction with Manufacturing teams, in either a primary or support role;
    • Delivering customer-facing Windows desktop applications.
