We are seeking an employee to become a part of our team. The Receptionist position is an integral part of the overall operation of a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery office. They are responsible for all formal interactions with patients and the overall success of the relationship between the office and the patient. This is a frontline position requiring a good working knowledge of customer service. One must be willing and able to adapt to the changing need of a multi-service office. The primary role is creating an excellent patient service experience. Other responsibilities include fielding patient calls and coordination with senior management and doctors.

Specific duties and are not limited to:

  • Answer the phone and schedule appointments for more than one physician
  • Update, file and maintain patients' medical records
  • Register new patients and update existing patient demographics
  • Facilitate patient flow by notifying staff of patient's arrival or delay
  • Respond to patients, prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous and professional manner
  • Maintain cleanliness of reception area, waiting room and exam rooms
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings

Experience and Education Required:

  • High School diploma or College Diploma
  • 2 years experience as a receptionist
  • Prior experience in a similiar office would be an asset
  • Prior experience in a medical office will be an asset
  • Knowledge of an EMR
  • Experience or Medical terminology would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong typing skills

  • Willingness to learn basic knowledge of surgical and non-surgical procedures
  • Attention to detail with accurate data entry skills
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and accept changes in the office environment
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to handle incoming calls and patients at one time
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Experience with financial transactions and billing (Debit/Credit Card)
  • Superior telephone etiquette
