On behalf of our client, Agri-Tel Grain Ltd., located in Beausejour, Manitoba, we are seeking 2 Regional Sales Associates (RSA) to join their team. Positions are located in Western Canada and Eastern Canada (French speaking is required for Eastern Canada). The company is involved in processing, packaging, and merchandising of bird feed grains. They also manufacture formed bird food products like bird bells, cakes and other formed products. As a diversified company specializing in agricultural commodities since 1978, they are a leader in manufacturing and distributing quality wild bird food products and merchandising grain within North America with an eye on expansion in international markets.

Agri-Tel Grain Ltd. is seeking to expand their business in Canada & USA by increasing the customer base, which includes bird food manufacturers and bird food sellers. The RSA is responsible for identifying and marketing new customers and new products in North America. Working from a Home office, the RSA will be supported by the team in Manitoba to perform their sales responsibilities.  The job responsibilities and the skills needed include the following:


  • Report to Vice President
  • Responsible for sales, customer prospecting and account management within assigned territory
  • Responsible for building a defined customer base by calling potential customers for company products
  • Develop sales strategy and programs with short and long-term targets for assigned customers and prospects
  • Build rapport and foster lasting relationships with customers through excellent customer service  
  • Promote marketing options to customers
  • Keep abreast with market trends and advise line manager on timely basis
  • Partner with external stakeholders and agencies for business development
  • Prepare and negotiate grain contracts
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings
  • Collaborate with Procurement Manager, Logistics Coordinator and the Operations Manager to ensure smooth and efficient execution of the sales and purchasing process

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary education in Business or Agriculture or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience in the agriculture industry
  • Account management experience required
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities and prospects, build customer relationships and close sales
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning skills
  • Travel required within Canada and the U.S.; valid driver’s license required
  • Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
