Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager, Canada is an integral part of the Canadian leadership team. The key focus of the role is to provide client group(s) with people solutions and programs that will grow the business and coaching leaders to foster increased employee and organization performance. He/she will collaborate with the HR Specialist teams (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation & Benefits, etc.) to ensure programs and policies are aligned with the needs of the business and are well understood through effective execution, guidance and support. He/she will be report to the Americas HR Leader and partner with HR colleagues across the US and Latin America to drive business growth for Align.  This is an exciting opportunity to be the country HR leader in a quickly growing organization! 

Job Description

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business needs in order to become a trusted business advisor
  • Make independent recommendations and implement country-wide policies and processes
  • Analyze data, market trends, and internal comparators to create HR recommendations that drive business strategy
  • Partner with Compensation & Benefit team to drive competitive compensation package design and delivery for the country
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to find the right talent for the right roles at the right times
  • Partner with Talent Management to upskill capability, drive performance, and succession plan
  • Make administrative and procedural decisions and demonstrate judgment on sensitive, confidential matters
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and respect through effective coaching and implementation of Company standards and guidelines
  • Work with managers and employees to address and resolve human resources matters through day-to-day guidance on performance management (coaching, counseling, development and disciplinary actions)
  • Ensure that all human resources practices are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, company standards and values
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations proactively that affect country-specific Human Resources functions and maintain compliance with all provincial, federal and labor laws
  • Assist with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse work force for the organization
  • Participate in external networks and professional industries to build key contacts within the industry
  • Assimilate and onboard new hires
  • Collaborate on and drive employee initiatives in wellness and health, safety and welfare


  • University degree with a preference for a relevant HR designation
  • Experience in leading HR programs and projects, including change management responsibilities. 
  • 6-10 years progressive Human Resource experience, including a minimum 2 years in a generalist/employee relations capacity 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Employment Legislation (Canada); coaching and counselling; dispute resolution and facilitation skills; principles of change management
  • Strong analytical skills and superior ability to problem-solve
  • Exceptional commitment to customer service with strong sense of urgency
  • Strong communication and presentation skills plus the ability to work in partnership across HR on special projects or initiatives
  • Willingness to travel 25%.  Some international travel is required.
  • Experience working with a US Company preferred
  • Experience in a matrixed organization preferred
