INFOFIT Educators is dedicated to setting the standard for educating fitness professionals across Western Canada.  We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Personal Fitness Trainer/Teaching Assistant to join our team.  The incumbent will enhance our clients' quality of life through the provision of appropriate knowledge, skills, guidance, support and motivation to help achieve their health and fitness goals.  This is a full-time, permanent position based out of the company's location in Vancouver, BC.


The Personal Fitness Trainer/Teaching Assistant will provide initial health screening, body composition and fitness testing; design and instruct a comprehensive, individualized, safe, effective and appropriate beginner-to-advanced exercise program for healthy individuals and clients with medical clearance; ensure a safe exercise environment; monitor participant progress and make regular adjustments to programs, as needed; design short- and long-term programs based on BCRPA standards and/or ACSM guidelines; provide basic nutritional information based on INFOFIT Educators' Healthy Eating Plan; obtain specialized training and consulting with appropriate health care professionals, as required; and act as a consultant/educator based on the BCRPA Standards/Code of Ethics and Guidelines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining awareness and understanding of all INFOFIT Educators' standards of performance, policies, protocols and club etiquette, and adhering to changes in price, policy or procedure as they occur; educating clients on upcoming events and lectures, and encouraging participation; completing all administrative duties accurately and in a timely manner; developing a professional referral network for clients who require services beyond the company's scope of practice; maintaining fitness and health-related knowledge, and staying updated on research and current fitness trends; and sharing knowledge, skills and experience with other INFOFIT Personal Fitness Trainers.

The Teaching Assistant portion of the position involves responsibility for assisting students with their academic studies and helping them improve their grades/test performance.  Ensuring that students' academic needs are met is a top priority at INFOFIT Educators.  Duties include assisting students and faculty in all operational and academic functions of INFOFIT Educators, and ability to teach on topics related to the Fitness Theory, Personal Trainer Basics, Personal Trainer Comprehensive and related exams, as required.  The incumbent will help students with subject content, according to individual strengths, and will learn and assist students with study strategies and techniques.  The successful candidate will also assist in developing and evaluating the Teaching Assistant material and services, and will participate in all INFOFIT Educators' training and evaluation sessions.  Duties will also be assigned as the Senior Education Administrator sees fit.

The incumbent will be responsible for enhancing our clients' quality of life and faciiltating the learning process by providing a warm, receptive and non-intimidating environment for each participant, offering safe programs that are enjoyable, efficient, effective and meet the specfic needs, interests and goals of clients; incorporating a holistic approach to health and fitness that encompasses cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and encurance, flexibility, nutrition, stress and life style issues; acting as a resource and networking with appropriate health and fitness professionals; creating and retaining new personal training business for INFOFIT Educators; and protecting and enhancing INFOFIT Educators' professional reputation.


The successful candidate must be a graduate of and in good standing with the INFOFIT Personal Trainer Certification Program, and must have current Personal Trainer Fitness certification with either ACE, BCRPA and/or ACSM.  Current CPR A and basic first aid training required.  Must have a minimum of two years of personal fitness training expderience; managerial experience preferred.  Must be able to speak, read and write in English and French.  The Personal Fitness Trainer/Teaching Assistant must demonstrate a genuine passion for the fitness industry, and have an outgoing, enthusiastic and caring attitude, along with a desire to help others.  Experience tutoring students is required.  Must be able to demonstrate an ability to share knowledge about fitness, health, exercise program planning, and exercise technique and execution.  Must maintain certification designation(s).


The position pays $20.00 per hour during the 3-month probationary period, increasing to $25.00 per hour thereafter, based on a 30 hour work week. Extended medical plan avaialble.  Discounts on all INFOFIT continuing education credit provided.
