Company Description

Established in 1999, we are a reputable commercial contractor specializing in interior & exterior renovations.  Xemex has recently expanded into base building construction by adding new products like our AL13 cladding division. We have built long lasting relationships with our clients and we pride ourselves on our commitment to safety and continued involvement in the COR program through ACSA. We are continually growing our business and seek dynamic individuals to join our team.  This is a full time opportunity for a self-motivated individual who strives in a fast paced environment.

The candidate: 

You will be a natural team player whose confidence is driven through your ability to effectively communicate and motivate the team towards the completion of the project. We will consider experience, training, and suitability in our review of the prospect. Our projects are located throughout the city of Calgary, with a focus on cost and timing.

Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in stand alone based buildings and interiors and a strong understanding of building envelope systems. 

Job Description

Provide overall management direction to multiple commercial construction projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Defining project goals
  • Ensuring milestones are met
  • Budget Development
  • Track and Control Cost to Completes
  • Pre-Construction Planning
  • Purchase Order Management Job Scheduling
  • Material Ordering
  • Reviewing of Owner Contracts
  • Submittal Management
  • Writing and/or approving Change Orders for both the Subs and Owners
  • Approval of Sub Draw and Submittal of Owner Draws
  • Customer Development
  • Visiting Sites to ensure Organization, Safety Inspections & Training
  • Collaborate with Estimating to provide value engineering design for repeat customers
  • Managing the Performance of the Production Department, Superintendent, as well as Subcontractor relations
  • Coordinating efforts with Administration
  • Ensuring the project is turned over to the Owner, Closed Out and any Warranty Management continues to be monitored.

Required Training and Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in a Construction Management role in COMMERCIAL construction, particularly with exterior renovations (cladding etc.) AND experience in commercial interiors
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Technologically proficient with Office 365, Outlook, MS Project, various apps
  • Excellent time management, organization and delegation
  • Exceptional in team leadership, motivation and conflict resolution
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Their own vehicle (this is absolutely required - public transit is not an option)
  • Be bondable (police check may be required)

  • Engineering (Architectural/Structural)
  • Prime Contractor Course
  • Standard First Aid
  • CSTS
