Salary $72,455.73 - $82,891.45 annually plus a 6.6% Temporary Market Adjustment

The Electricity and Alternative Energy Division (EAED) facilitates thriving, environmentally responsible electricity and alternative energy sectors for British Columbians. EAED is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs to support ministry electricity initiatives, including the trade of electricity with Alberta and the United States.
As Senior Economist you will use your quantitative expertise and experience to coordinate and lead the design and implementation of complex economic modelling projects. You will apply your considerable judgement, insight, and initiative to provide strategic advice and recommendations to achieve provincial policy objectives.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Master’s Degree in Economics or a related field such as statistics, mathematics, business administration or commerce.
  • Significant work experience in natural resource and energy industry analysis.
  • At least two years of experience in policy analysis and development.
  • At least two years of experience in economic impact analysis, evaluations and recommendations related to the energy industry. 
  • Experience preparing briefing materials and public presentations for a senior level executive audience.
