The engineering function within the Ministry is transforming. We are looking for dedicated individuals to help form our leading-edge engineering team to ensure BC’s highways are part of a vital, integrated transportation network!

As the Rockwork Project Manager, you manage and control the delivery of multiple Rock Slope Stabilization projects on a planned and emergency basis throughout the Province using contracted resources. Working with the Rockwork Engineering section, based out of the South Coast Region, you are part of the team responsible for developing and delivering an annual Provincial Rock Slope Stabilization Program to reduce rockfall hazards to the travelling public.

The provincial government’s goal is for development of a safe, efficient and cost-effective transportation network. Ensuring that we successfully deliver on this mandate has always been built on a solid foundation of engineering and technical expertise and knowledge. The Ministry’s Engineering and Technical services is organized as a provincial group, providing services to the entire Ministry and province through six core engineering disciplines: Structural, Highway Design and Survey, Electrical and ITS, Geotechnical, Traffic and Highway Safety and Environmental Services.

This streamlined provincial model will allow our engineering and technical staff to take on more interesting and complex assignments internally; provide improved career progression opportunities; and lead to an increase of knowledge sharing and growth in the Ministry. Qualifications for this role include:

  • A minimum of 7 years directly related experience, OR, 5 years directly related experience with a related technology diploma or university degree.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience should include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of contract and/or project management experience delivering transportation related infrastructure which should include technical specification writing, negotiating disputes, communicating with stakeholders and work scheduling
  • Experience with traffic management procedures for work on highways/roads with traffic control, equipment and contractors
