Carney Battery Handling Ltd was formed in 1984 after identifying the need for a safe, reliable and cost-effective way to manage battery changes in materials handling equipment given the rapid growth of large multiple-shift operations at the time.

Our initial work with some of North America’s largest retail and logistics companies was on systems for their new and upgraded distribution facilities. From these early projects Carney quickly forged a reputation as a trusted partner, who they still rely on 25 years later, to design and construct the heart of the modern distribution center – the battery room.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate, assign and review the work of our Parts Clerks and shipping/receiving team and contractors;
  • Supervising the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of parts;
  • Planning, organizing and overseeing the shipping and receiving logistics of parts, including answering service calls and providing technical assistance, when necessary;
  • Establishing work schedules and procedures, resolving work-related issues and coordinating with other departments of the company;
  • Ensuring to order parts and materials when required;
  • Monitoring and following up on sales and quotes requests and process orders;
  • Providing training to new employees;
  • Responsible for the organization and layout of the parts room along with managing the inventory of parts within that room.
  • Ensuring incoming parts orders are entered into the order log and work orders are created and inform customers of estimated ship dates
  • Evaluating warranty parts for trends that may require engineering to evaluate failures for a root cause.

Skills Requirements;

  • At least 2 years of management experience, preferably within the retail or automobile industry
  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in administration, retail management, public relations, marketing or a related field is required;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple requests and deadlines and working under pressure
  • General knowledge of mechanicals, electric and/or hydraulic machines.
  • The candidate must have strong solving ability and a sense of initiative
  • Strong English communication skills are required, both verbal and written (knowledge of a second language is a definitive asset)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster teamwork while managing conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to use Kanban Systems
  • Flexibility to respond to changing requirements and a rapidly evolving industry
  • Must be able to travel within the Province every two months to supervise Job on the field.

Terms of employment:

  • Permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday
  • Some overtime may be required

Language of work:

  • Strong English communication skills are required, both verbal and written (knowledge of a second language is a definitive asset)


  • $58,000.00 CAD annually for 40 hours of work per week
