We are a highly competitive and specialized group of veterinarians and technicians concentrating on the diagnosis and treatment of companion animals with neurologic disorders using advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures. We are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist with experience in Veterinary Imaging.

The Imaging technicians work with companion animals, as well as with multiple diagnostic modalities, which may include radiography, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound or computed tomography. Specifically, this position will include specialization in MRI and companion animal radiography. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare and position patients with little or no supervision and produce radiographs, computer tomography and MR images using stationary, radiographic and magnetic resonance imaging generators with varying detectors in small animals.

Duties

  • Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, computerized tomography (CT) scanners, mammography units and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to produce radiographs or anatomic images of the human body for the diagnosis by radiologists of disease or injury
  • Record and process animal data
  • Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the animal during the radiographic examination
  • Explain procedures, position animal and equipment and apply radiation protection measures
  • May train and supervise student radiographers or supervise other technicians
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the delivery of services within the imaging department of a veterinary clinic
  • Develop evaluation systems to monitor the quality of health care given to animals
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time
  • Use hands to manipulate, handle to feel
  • Often required to lift and carry animals weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Clerical, housekeeping, maintenance and organizational responsibilities
  • Often required to lift and carry dogs weighing up to 150 pounds

Experience & Skills

  • 2+ Years experience in Veterinary Imaging required
  • Proficiency with a Phillips 1.5T Intera (maintenance and use)
  • Knowledge of advanced radiology and anaesthesia safety, anatomy and physiology and the meaning of commonly used veterinary and human terminology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to work alone and in a team
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to speak, write and understand English required
  • Ability to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, listen
  • Radiologic Sciences Certificate preferred but not required
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Training preferred but not required
