Job Description:

The role is the primary accountant and payroll administrator for an Oil Field Service Company located in Nisku, Alberta.  The company is a small, but stable organization, with a long term horizon.

The position reports directly to the Controller of the Company, and will work in the Nisku field office with the Company’s President.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bi-weekly payroll administration
  • Monthly accounting period close process
  • Journal entry and working paper preparation
  • Sales Tax and other regulatory filings
  • Year-end working paper preparation
  • Year-end audit assistance
  • Financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Provide general administrative assistance as required by the President
  • Complete other general accounting processes and ad hoc tasks and projects as needed


  • 3+ years of related accounting experience
  • Full cycle accounting knowledge required
  • Ability to assess and recommend efficiencies to current processes
  • Detail orientated, organized and has the ability to multi-task
  • Initiative to learn & take on new responsibilities
  • Must take responsibility and ownership for position
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills


  • Completed accounting certificate, diploma or degree an asset, or equivalent experience

Future Growth:

  • Annual budget preparation assistance
  • Work closely with senior management to develop key metrics and reporting
  • Additional responsibilities with affiliated companies
