The Regional Ethics Network (REN) is comprised of partner organizations from across south-western Ontario that collaboratively contract ethics services from the Office of Clinical & Organizational Ethics at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHSC) (see www.regionalethicsnetwork.com ) . The Regional Ethicist provides clinical and organizational ethics leadership to partner organizations through the development of ethics resources/infrastructure, local ethics committee support/capacity building, and the provision of ethics consultation and education.
Reporting to the Director of the Office of Clinical & Organizational Ethics at HHSC, the Regional Ethicist will also collaborate on projects with members of the Ethics Office, as part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of ethicists, project leads and researchers. The Ethics Office is known as a leader in healthcare ethics practice and innovation across Canada; it has twice won Leading Practice awards for its ethics programs from Accreditation Canada (2011 and 2016). The Regional Ethicist will have the opportunity for a faculty appointment (part-time, non-tenure) within the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University.
In order to be considered, you will possess the following
1.Graduate degree in healthcare ethics-related field; Masters Degree minimum, Doctorate preferred, or equivalent professional degree
2.Minimum 2 years working as an ethicist in a healthcare setting (may include clinical ethics fellowship)
3.Skills in leadership, consulting, teaching, facilitation, communication (written/oral), interpersonal relationship-building, team building, and analysis of healthcare ethics issues
4. Experience in policy development, implementation and evaluation
5.Ability to be self-directed and independent, reflective, compassionate, mature, collaborative and committed to quality and innovation
6.Training/experience in mediation an asset
7.Formal experience in leading, developing, and delivering a comprehensive ethics program in a healthcare system an asset
8.Research and program evaluation experience an asset
9.Excellent writing skills and publication experience an asset
10.Proficiency in both Official Languages would be an asset.
