Kananaskis Country Campgrounds operates 35 provincial campgrounds and group camps, 3 camper stores and an outdoor equipment rental shop, all located throughout 5 valleys of Kananaskis Country, in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. We are seeking highly motivated, hard working individuals to fill summer staffing positions.  These run from mid-June to early-September and are full-time positions (37-40 hours per week).  Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts wanting to spend the summer in the Rocky Mountains!  Make the most out your summer by using your time off to explore the endless opportunities to hike, bike, scramble, climb, paddle, and camp in some of the most incredible terrain Alberta has to offer.

Available Positions (4):  Working in our store centre in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, the clerk would be responsible for processing rentals of outdoor equipment (canoes, kayaks, bikes), retail sales of food products and camping supplies, serving scooped ice cream, answering phone inquiries and booking rental reservations, providing visitor information, stocking shelves, cash handling, store opening and closing, cleaning, and other duties as assigned.


Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills are required.  We want our customers and guests to feel welcome and get the most out of their visit to the mountains.  We are seeking reliable, trustworthy employees who can get the job done with being micro-managed.  Experience in a retail setting and/or cash handling would be an asset.  Familiarity with outdoor recreation equipment (bikes, canoes, etc) is an asset but not required. 

Positions will involve working both independently and with others.  An easy-going nature and the ability to get along with others are very important as our staff both live and work together.  Successful applicants should be excited at the prospect of living and working in a mountain park setting, away from city life.  There is no cell phone service in the park! 

Job Type:  Full-time, temporary

Start Date:  June 13, 2017

End Date:  September 4, 2017 (possibility to extend season if interested)

Work Schedule:  Averages 5 shifts per week, usually 8 hour shifts.  Day and evening shifts are required, must be available to work any day of the week as days off are usually mid-week.

Wages:  $12.50 per hour + additional $1/hour performance bonus.  Bonus is payable at end of the season and eligibility is contingent on working to September 4th.  An additional 4% vacation pay is paid out on every cheque.

Accommodations:  Furnished, shared staff accommodations available.  We have staff cabins available in the park.  Each cabin houses 3 people and provides you with a large private room and shared kitchen, living and washroom facilities.  The rent for accommodations is $5 per day, deducted from your paycheque.  All utilities and local phone service is included in this amount.
