On behalf of our client, we are recruiting an Operations Manager, located in the Greater Toronto, Ontario area, to plan and direct operations and improve productivity and efficiency through effective methods and strategies.

Reporting to the senior management team, the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of company operations while maintaining the integrity and overall quality of products and procedures in delivering cost-effective and value-added solutions to their customers.


  • Ensuring that all production projects are manufactured in a correct, cost effective and timely manner in alignment with specifications and quality requirements
  • Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of customers’ needs, including better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning
  • Oversee financial management, production planning, systems and controls
  • Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting
  • Manage annual budget, including periodic assessments and forecasts of company’s financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals
  • Plan, implement and control production job schedules; review and adjust the schedule where needed
  • Determine and manage the human resources and material resources required to meet production targets
  • Oversee scheduled production, accompanying reporting, and tasks of all related personnel
  • Implement standard operating procedures for production operations and ensure that they are adhered to
  • Ensure implementation and strict adherence to health and safety procedures
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives, including detection and correction of problems and traceability of all products
  • Direct, train and support quality inspectors and other quality associates
  • Determine and implement improvements to the production process and prepare and maintain production reports
  • Estimate, set and manage production costs; implement cost control programs
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in operations leadership in manufacturing
  • Post-secondary education in business management, engineering, industrial technology or equivalent experience
  • Experienced in production and manufacturing processes and techniques, raw materials, quality systems and standards, process improvement techniques and health and safety standards and compliance
  • Thorough understanding and experience in implementing lean processes
  • Hands on experience in managing ERP systems, IQMS is desired
  • Training in WHIMIS is desired
  • Generally, working knowledge in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), lean manufacturing practices, business process mapping, Six Sigma, ISO, cleanroom and OEE
  • Superior analytical, management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be hands-on and take initiative
  • Detailed-oriented with keen eye to detect quality of final product
  • Solid computer skills
